On December 13th 2019, Canada Pakistan Affiliated Chamber of Trade (CPACT) signed a letter of intent with McGill University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Oncology.
The Letter of Intent was signed between Dr. Eduardo Franco, Chairman, Department of Oncology, McGill Faculty of Medicine and Mr. Zaheer Khan, Co-Chairman of CPACT, to focus on educational mission of Cancer Research & Medical Education. Both organizations pledged to organize charitable events throughout the year to benefit the Oncology department and the affected community at large. The signing ceremony was termed as a meeting of “Hearts and Minds” between CPACT and McGill Oncology Department.
It was reiterated by Co-Chair, Zaheer Khan since forty percent of the world’s population is living in five countries (four of them in South & East Asia), it is highly pertinent that our joint-efforts should lead to benefit in key areas of Cancer prevention and research.
CPACT will provide its expertise regarding security of information, enhance Fundraising opportunities and promote McGill Oncology drive via social media platforms, SMS and Emails to its members to raise awareness about cancer research, arrange McGill Oncology seminar and symposium activities within Canada and in South Asian countries.
Moreover, both CPACT and McGill will organize at least one event per year to raise funds and awareness for cancer research & prevention. CPACT will also have an online dedicated web portal for “Online Donations” for McGill Oncology.
Dr. Franco appreciated Canadians of Pakistani origin for their support and affinity with the Cancer research activities. The meeting provided a trigger point for accelerating transfer of knowledge about Cancer Awareness and find cure for everyone affected in this critical area of medical care. Both CPACT and McGill Oncology resolved to coordinate activities and contribute their resources for further improvement in the lives of millions people in future.
The formal announcement was made at the McGill Oncology Annual Holiday Event held on December 18th, 2019 at the McGill Faculty Club in Montreal where he profusely thanked Ms. Christina Raneburger, Chair's Senior Advisor for Administrative Affairs and Associate Director of Administration at McGill faculty of medicine and Sadia Sajid, VP Development CPACT for their endeavors into making this a reality.
